The Morning She Stayed Home

I wrote this 101-word story on 29 February, shortly after reports emerged that U.S. precision-guided Tomahawk missiles had destroyed the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, Iran. More than 150 people were killed, including 120 children.

Days later, after a few revisions, I sent it to 101Words.com. Now, five months later, my story breathes.

The questions surrounding that day remain unanswered. The explanations have shifted. The investigation many hoped for has yet to fully materialize.

But behind every military objective are human lives. Behind every number are names, families, and empty beds.
